Chelsea defender Levi Colwill says the three-week international break must be used as an opportunity to "become a better team" under Xabi Alonso, following a run of mixed results to open the season.
The Blues have collected seven points from their opening five Premier League matches, a tally that includes a 3-0 defeat at Brentford on Friday night. Alonso's side controlled the first half at the Gtech Community Stadium but conceded three unanswered goals after the interval.
"Some good bits, some other not so good bits," Colwill said when reflecting on Chelsea's start. "Luckily we've got a while now to try and improve. Hopefully, we will come out the other side flying, pick up our play, and become a better team."
Colwill, 23, has not been called up by England for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, meaning he will remain at Chelsea and continue training under Alonso throughout the break. The centre-back missed most of last season with a knee injury.
Chelsea have also progressed in the Carabao Cup during the opening weeks of the campaign, though inconsistency in the league has left the club with clear room for improvement ahead of the resumption of top-flight fixtures.
