Chelsea head into Friday's Premier League London derby at Brentford sitting sixth in the table, five points behind leaders Arsenal and Manchester City, with the Bees one place and one point behind them.

Chelsea are unbeaten in all competitions away at Brentford in nine successive matches — four wins and five draws — since their last defeat there in October 1938. Brentford have not won a home league fixture against Chelsea in six attempts, with all three of their Premier League victories over the Blues coming at Stamford Bridge.

The last four away meetings between the sides have ended in draws. In the corresponding fixture in September 2025, Kevin Schade opened the scoring before Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo put Chelsea ahead, only for Fabio Carvalho to equalise in the third minute of stoppage time.

Cole Palmer made his 100th Premier League appearance against Hull last week and needs one more goal to reach 50 in the competition for Chelsea. Only Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (84 appearances) and Diego Costa (85) have reached that mark for the club in fewer games. Palmer's 71 Premier League goal involvements also make him only the second Chelsea player to surpass 70 in his first 100 appearances for the club, after Hasselbaink (77).

Joao Pedro leads the Premier League for goal involvements this season with six — three goals and three assists. Only Didier Drogba (eight in 2010/11) and Diego Costa (seven) have recorded more combined goals and assists for Chelsea in the opening four matches of a top-flight campaign.

Chelsea's matches have produced more goals than any other Premier League side through four matchweeks, with 19 in total — 10 scored and nine conceded. The Blues have conceded two or more goals in each of their first four league matches of the season for the first time since 2015/16.

Morgan Rogers is the fifth player to score or assist in each of Chelsea's first four games of a Premier League season, joining Drogba (2010/11), Cesc Fabregas (2014/15), Diego Costa (2014/15 and 2016/17) and Eden Hazard (2018/19).

On the Brentford side, Kevin Schade leads the Bees with three Premier League goals this season and made 13 off-the-ball runs in behind the defence in matchweek four — second only to Liam Delap (17) across the division. Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher made eight saves in that same round, more than any other Premier League keeper.

Brentford have lost just two of their last 17 Premier League home games and are unbeaten in their last seven at home. Ten of their last 14 league matches have ended in draws.

Manager Keith Andrews made eight changes for Brentford's Carabao Cup win at Reading on Tuesday. His record against Chelsea stands at zero wins, one draw and one defeat.

Andy Madley will referee the match, his first Chelsea fixture since their 2-2 draw at Newcastle United last December.
