Chelsea Next Gen players celebrate during Premier League 2 match against Fulham

Chelsea's Cobham Next Gen side came from behind to defeat Fulham 3-1 in Premier League 2 on Saturday, with second-half goals from Harrison Bettoni, Reggie Watson and Leo Black completing the turnaround.

Fulham had led through Dan Casey's right-footed finish in the 35th minute, with the midfielder cutting inside two Chelsea defenders before finding the bottom corner. Chelsea had dominated much of the first half, hitting the woodwork twice through Chizaram Ezenwata and Black, while Fulham goalkeeper Dino Kaiser was repeatedly tested.

The equaliser arrived seven minutes after the restart. Ezenwata fed Watson, who squared for Bettoni to stroke home a left-footed finish. Three minutes later Chelsea were in front, as Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli — making his first appearance following his senior debut — found Watson, who cut inside and fired right-footed into the net for his fifth goal of the season and his first from open play.

Black settled the result with 13 minutes remaining. Ezenwata again showed sharp awareness to pick out the defender inside the area, and Black turned before finding the bottom corner with a composed finish to make it 3-1. Black had also struck the crossbar earlier in the match.

The victory extends Cobham Next Gen's winning run in Premier League 2 to three consecutive matches, following earlier wins over West Ham United and Arsenal. Fulham had entered the fixture unbeaten in the competition, having taken seven points from their opening three games.

Chelsea's next fixture is in the EFL Trophy, away to Reading on Tuesday 13 October.
