Chelsea suffered a heavy Premier League defeat at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium on Friday evening, losing 3-0 in a result that will sting heading into a three-week international break.

Xabi Alonso's side were relatively solid in the first half, limiting the hosts to few clear chances while fashioning a couple of openings themselves. The second half, however, unravelled quickly.

Jaidon Anthony broke the deadlock with a close-range header, Igor Thiago then converted to double Brentford's lead, and Fabio Carvalho sealed the win with a third goal in stoppage time.

The loss continued a difficult recent record for Chelsea at the Gtech Community Stadium, a ground that has proved troublesome for the club since Brentford's promotion to the Premier League in 2021.

Alonso and his squad will now have three weeks to reflect on the defeat during the international break before Premier League action resumes.
