Bruno Guimaraes scored his fourth international goal as Brazil defeated Australia 4-2 in Brisbane on Tuesday, while Mikel Merino provided an assist as Spain beat Croatia 4-1 in Seville.

With the game level at 2-2 at Suncorp Stadium, Guimaraes struck in the 69th minute to put Brazil ahead, before Vinicius Jr converted a late penalty to complete the victory. Gabriel Magalhaes played the full 90 minutes for Carlo Ancelotti's side — the only Brazilian outfield player to do so.

Brazil now travel to Kolkata to face India in a first-ever meeting between the two nations.

In Seville, Martin Zubimendi started and played 72 minutes as Spain eased past Croatia. A Lamine Yamal double and a Marc Pubill goal put Luis de la Fuente's side 3-1 ahead before Merino, introduced on 57 minutes, set up Nico Williams in the 89th minute to complete a 4-1 win — two victories from two for the world champions.

In the same group, England bounced back from defeat to Spain with a 2-0 win over Czechia. Myles Lewis-Skelly and Bukayo Saka both started for Thomas Tuchel's side. Lewis-Skelly was substituted at half-time, replaced by Ebere Eze. Anthony Gordon broke the deadlock on 47 minutes before Harry Kane sealed the points on 69.

Spain lead League A, Group 3 on six points, with England second on three, level with Croatia, and Czechia bottom with none.
