Brighton & Hove Albion sit at the top of the Premier League's early-season statistics after five matches, collecting ten points and scoring 16 goals — the most by any side after five rounds in four years.

A 3-0 home victory over Arsenal on matchday five extended Brighton's record to five wins from eight across all competitions and made them the only club to beat the reigning champions at home in three consecutive seasons, having previously beaten Liverpool and Manchester City by 2-1 scorelines.

Brighton are averaging 64.3% possession, the highest in the division, while their 22 big chances — nine converted — and expected goals tally of 11.48 also lead the league. Nine different players have scored for manager Fabian Hurzeler this season, six of them under 24, both figures the highest in the Premier League.

Set pieces have contributed to the goal return. Summer signings Chema Andres and Luka Vuskovic have each headed in back-post inswingers delivered by Pascal Gross, giving Brighton three Premier League corner goals already in 2026/27 — the most of any club at this stage.

Defensively, Brighton have kept five clean sheets in eight matches, twice the rate they managed at the same point last season. Their 3-0 win over Arsenal made them only the seventh side since August 2024 to shut out Mikel Arteta's team in the Premier League. Brighton also lead the division for final-third regains with 36, ahead of Bournemouth on 28.

Hurzeler has managed the run without a settled first-choice squad. Club captain Lewis Dunk missed the Arsenal win through injury, replaced by Pascal Struijk, who combined with Vuskovic for 12 duels won, ten clearances and ten recoveries. Maxim de Cupyer has also shifted from full-back to left-wing to cover the absent Kaoru Mitoma.

Pascal Gross leads the club for chances created with 15 and is joint-top — alongside Joao Pedro — for Premier League goals plus assists this season with six. Gross also covered more distance than any other player in the victory over Arsenal.
